What Paul Really Said About Women: The Apostle's Liberating Views on Equality in Marriage, Leadership, and Love by John T. Bristow
English | 1991 | ISBN: 0060610638 | 144 Pages | PDF | 6.5 MB
A challenge to the traditional understanding of St. Paul's epistles and sexism in today's church.

This book looks into how certain words can lose their meaning when translated, which is exactly what has happened with much of the Scripture as we (English speaking people) have come to know it. Dr. John Bristow looks at the meanings for the actual words that Paul used in his writings and how they were mistranslated by those who bought into the Greek/ Pagan ideas of that time that women were nothing more than property. These mistranslations have become the traditional teachings which have become some of the most controversial pieces in Scripture.

Of course, many people do not like having their traditional viewpoint on equality of the sexes challenged, or their ideas of how following their man made rules (like how a person should dress, for example) will get you "closer to God," which is exactly what this book does. It challenges the traditional view points that people have bought into from incorrect translations made in by people who translated from a personal bias, infusing the philosophy of pagan scholars with how they thought Paul should be teaching. But remember that Jesus and Paul both challenged the traditional teachings of their time periods as well.
